I'll get to Barry Bonds eventually. I'd like to know more about why they decided to indict on federal perjury charges after four years. Makes one think someone finally talked.

Marbury vs. Isiah might be the biggest battle involving a Marbury since Marbury vs. Madison. According the to NY Daily News, Isiah informed Marbury that he would not be starting last night's game against Phoenix, instead going with 2nd-year man Mardy Collins instead. This naturally put a bad taste in Marbury's mouth and instead of accepting his new role, decided to fly back to the Big Apple. Naturally, Isiah's decision was poor as Collins ended up playing only 5 minutes, putting up 0 points and 2 assists. This is where it gets really good though, from a source Marbury is quoted as saying about Thomas. "Isiah has to start me. I've got so much (stuff) on Isiah and he knows it. He thinks he can (get) me. But I'll (get) him first. You have no idea what I know." Let "As the Knicks Turn" continue. Oh and the Knicks lost last night 113-102. Someone's gonna go and soon.
Looks like this will never actually happen:

College Basketball Pick of the Day:
Davidson +11 @ North Carolina

C.C. Sabathia wins the AL Cy Young award, I'm shocked that it didn't go to Josh Beckett. Even more shocking is that Sabathia won it by a comfortable 119-86 margin and getting 19 first place votes to Beckett's 8.
Tale of the Tape:
Sabathia Beckett
19 Wins 20
3.21 ERA 3.27
1.14 WHIP 1.14
241 Innings 200.2
4 CG 1
209 K 194
.259 BAA .245
C.C. is getting a ton of credit for throwing an extra 40 innings during the regular season, maybe that's why he was so bad in the playoffs.

I don't understand Kevin Love the freshman for UCLA. He in no way looks like he should be a stud basketball player, I really think it his perfectly groomed beard, but that could be just me. Either way, he's been excellent for the Bruins dropping 21.5 points on average in his first two games. UCLA is one of my favorites this year as they make a run for a 3rd straight Final Four.

Someone tidbits from the weekend in sports:
Ohio Oh No!
The Buckeyes get upset in the Horseshoe by the Fightin' Zooks 28-21. Coach Zook told his players after they got pasted by the Buckeyes 40-2 two seasons ago that just wait. Wait they did, missing out on the upset last year in Ohio State's run to the national title game last year by a touchdown. This year the Illini brought the wood and instead of using their 6th ranked rush offense, mixed it up with Juice Williams throwing a career-high 4 touchdowns to shock Ohio. St. Most impressive holding the ball for the last 8:09 to preserve the win and not let Tressel's team not have one more chance at a comeback.
Hold the Mayo, Please
OJ Mayo was everything Tim Floyd expected in his first game with USC, dropping in 32 points. The bigger headline however was the beatdown the Trojans suffered at the hands of Mercer 96-81. The Bears became the 2nd Atlantic Sun team to beat someone in the top 25 after Gardner-Webb took down Kentucky in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Remember this for whoever comes out of the A-Sun come bracket time.
Peterson Goes Down
A week after setting the single-game rushing record, Adrian Peterson was shut down and then knocked out by the Packers still underrated defense. Peterson has been diagnosed with a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee and is out for this Sunday. This injury could take 2-4 weeks to recover from, but with the Vikings season at 3-6, we might not see him for the rest of the year as Minnesota looks to protect their star player.
Jimmie Crack Corn
Jimmie Johnson broke his teammates back this weekend winning again in Phoenix to all but secure another Nextel Cup title. Jeff Gordon dropped to 86 points back and has little shot of passing his Hendrick Motorsports teammate. Johnson has now won four straight races going from back and forth with #24 for the title to clinching it in the chase. Hendrick gets a big accomplishment in going 1-2 in the title chase.
Pedroia, Braun Top Rookies
No qualms from me on who won baseball's rookie of the year awards. Pedroia led AL rookies in batting average and worked his way from project to a key cog in the best team in the league. Braun was just dominant hitting 32 homers after being called up in late May and would have led the NL in slugging percentage if he had enough at-bats to qualify. Troy Tulowitzki made his case at the end and would win the award in most other years as his defense was 1000 times better than Braun's. Braun was tied for the league lead in errors, while Tulo was pretty much flawless playing shortstop. Tomorrow the AL Cy Young is announced, while CC Sabathia had a career year, the award is Josh Beckett's to lose and I don't think he will.
Crazy Cromartie
Antonio Cromartie has become a stud for the Chargers and is an unknown name behind Tomlinson, Rivers, Gates, and Merriman. If he keeps this up though, he might join them as household names. His past 3 weeks:
Week 8: Two interceptions, one returned for touchdown
Week 9: 109 yard missed FG returned for touchdown, the longest play in NFL history and Cromartie made a spectacular catch to even stay in bound to catch the missed field goal to have a chance at returning it
Week 10: 3 interceptions, people have had 3 interceptions in games before, just it doesn't happen against Peyton Manning

As promised here is my current playoff system, if the FBS had a 16 team playoff
Here are the original rules for my system:
Rule #1: All Conference champions are in the playoff, provided they are in the top 20 of the final BCS standings.
Rule #2: No conference members may play each other in the first round.
Rule #3: Notre Dame gets a bid provided they are in the BCS top 12.
Rule #4: The Championship game will always be played on New Years' Day.
1st Round:
Friday Dec. 7th (4 games) and Saturday Dec. 8th (4 games)
Quarterfinals:
Saturday Dec. 15th (4 games)
Semifinals:
Saturday Dec. 22nd (2 games)
National Title Game:
Tuesday Jan. 1, 2008
Current BCS standings http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/BCSStandings
Teams in from winning there conference and being in the BCS top 20 (currently designated as highest BCS team in the conference)
LSU (SEC), Oregon (Pac-10), Kansas (Big 12),West Virginia (Big East), Ohio State (Big Ten), Virginia Tech (ACC), Hawaii (WAC)
Current First Round (Games played at site of higher seed)
Woody Hayes Bracket
1)LSU-SEC Champ
16)Hawaii-WAC Champ
8)Arizona St.-At Large
9)Georgia-At Large
4)Oklahoma-At Large
13)Florida-At Large
5)Missouri-At Large
12)USC-At Large
Bo Schembeckler Bracket
2)Oregon-Pac 10 Champ
15)Clemson-At Large
7)Ohio State-Big 10 Champ
10)Virginia Tech-ACC Champ
3)Kansas-Big 12 Champ
14)Virginia-At Large
6)West Virginia-Big East Champ
11)Texas-At Large
The way it would work out currently is you could actually have the top 16 teams in the current BCS standings have a chance at the national title. Also some intriguing 1st round matchups (Oklahoma/Florida and West Virginia/Va Tech) that would get huge ratings. Would also be an excuse to have another office pool. The money they would make on this would be tremendous and even steal thunder away from the NFL playoffs. December could actually be designated National Football Month with everything goes like this.
Back tomorrow with a weekend update and a tribute to Antonio Cromartie's amazing three weeks.

Alright, let's try the blog thing again
We'll get on with my most favorite topic to hate on, the BCS...I know they want to find the two best teams in the country, but with the parity that is being found in college football, the playoff is the way to go still. Once the updated BCS standings come out tonight, I'll put out what I would have as a 16 team playoff using the template I came up with last season after the Michigan/Florida controversy, which ultimately ended up with Florida getting in and winning it all, proving the SEC is the toughest and probably the best conference in the nation.
Who would I have play in the national title game right now? I would love to see the LSU/Oregon matchup. I would have a hard time keeping Kansas out if they run the table. The Jayhawks can still crack the top 2 with a win against #6 Missouri and a win against #3 Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game, give them the boost to the top two in the BCS. But again, title should be decided on the field, not by computers or pollsters.
My Heisman Ballot:
Dennis Dixon
Tim Tebow
Darren McFadden
